let's see, any and all plastic under the hood, a new rats next, like dohc-vtec_eg said a new wiring harness (except he over priced it a little, people on the forum have gotten new ones from Malloy for between 650 and 900 if my memory serves me correctly), fender liners, undertray, new radiator (if it has a stock rad with plastic end tanks), ast, probably new UIM and LIM gaskets (unless they have been replaced with metal ones prior to the fire), new hood, fenders, brake lines (just to make sure that they don't bust from being heated), fuel lines, etc. etc. etc. how much is the guy asking for the car? if you can get pics, we can give you a better idea on how hard/much it'll cost to fix it.

on a side note, i was looking at buying a burnt FD and replacing all the stuff, and unless the guy wants about 6k for it, it's not worth it unless he didn't turn it into the insurance (it'll probably have a salvage title if it's been turned into the insurance).

I think it certainly depends on where the fire is in the engine bay, and how long it burned. I have seen an FD that had a fire due to the fuel pulsation dampener (FPD), and it really looked bad at first, but it actually turned out ok. Just ended up changing the FPD, an entire new engine harness (from Malloy Mazda), silicone hoses, and the plastic directional valves (forget the actual name). Car started right up on the first try after all work was done.

The engine wiring harness is $700 from Ray Crowe @ Malloy Mazda. I just bought one about a month ago.

Or buy it and throw a LS1 in in That is what i would do instead of rebuilding. But if you want a Rotary enginer then it will get expensive since the engine will most likely need to be replaced due to excessive heat on the o-rings from the fire.

dont buy it unless its NOT extensive damage. i bought one and regret it! and i didnt buy it with the intention of returning it to stock... im putting in a 20b so i dont need as many stock parts. either way, i say pass it up if you can.
