How hard is it to remove power steering pump?

Easy if you want to remove or do not have an A/C. Just remove the P/S pump, remove the bracket, piping, and buy a loop hose, like the one that CWR used to sell, and hook it up.
Also, there is some debate on whether removing the P/S is good for the steering system, primarily the needle bearings.
Here is/was my plan: buy a used P/S bracket, replace the idler pulley with a regular pulley, but it will still be adjustable. This would allow me to still run the A/C.
There are some that have run the car without problems with removing the P/S.
