This really didn't require two threads...
However, the most difficult part of removing the engine is seperating from the transmission.

Removing it and prepping it for shipping is the easy part, remembering where everything goes when you get the shortblock back is the hard part (if you are not familiar with these cars). This is the reason some people opt to ship us the whole car, others feel they can tackle the installation and just ship the engine.

1. Download the factory service manual, should be a link on the forum just search.
2. Read about the removal process several times. It will tell you what to disconnect and in what order. If this still sounds like something you want to do then go for it.
You will need basic hand tools, and an impact wrench is a plus ( they make electric ones if you don't have a compressor). You will need some type of engine hoist, you can rent these or buy one from northern tool for about the same price as the 2 rental charges ( removal and installation).
You will need a set of ramps or jack stands and a jack. Please use good quality jack stands, as I have seen 3 people die, in my career as a firefighter, due to a car parked on their chest.
Take lots of pictures and label everything. Pictures will help with hose and wire routing. Zip lock bags and a sharpie work great for small parts. Use caution when working with the engine wiring harness, vacuum lines and solenoids, these get hard and brittle and can be expensive to replace.
You can go 2 directions with the engine removal. Some people remove the engine and trannny together and some separate the engine from the tranny. Do a search for the pros and cons of both methods.
Good Luck
