How fast does it feel with 300 rwhp FD?

...in general, comparing to other cars on street...or 300 rwhp FDs are just turds?

Don't get offended...I own one. Just like to see if 300 rwhp is enough to play with.

Thanks

you dont know what your talking about.

FD weighs just over 2700lbs. 300 rwhp would be like 360 in one of those preppy mustangs.

300whp is mopre than enought to play with I have one and its stock and I take most of the people on the road. Just consider this stock FD has 210whp and it is already quite fast ad another 100 to it you do the math.

that's why I asked.

Let's hear more...

I don't like to see this thread turn out to be a RX7 - Mustang shoot out...

I just like to see if 300 rwhp FD is adequate...I have own 500+ rwhp mustang...and I hated it...can't put the power to the ground.

comparing to most normal cars on the street, a stock FD is more than enough..you'll easily pass them if needed to or if you want to get up and going when merging onto a highway or whatever, a stock fd is quick enough for that..

i think 300rwhp is good enough for like the base 911's, vettes, mustangs etc..even then you'll edge them..

i think ill be happy with 325-350whp..then im set..

I guess it depends how long you have been at 300whp.

If you just did some mods to get that power then the car will feel faster than ever.

But if you have been at 300whp for a while then it will probably feel slow.

I agree its all relative. I've been single turbod for just a few months, and its already feeling slow again (eventhough its not). I haven't met a single car on the road that holds up, but to me its still slow. Oh well.

agreed

during the first couple of months when i got my car, i thought it was the fastest thing on the road, literally lol..cause it gave me that pinned to the seat type of power and broke the tires loose at times..now after a year of owning it, i feel like its slow..i def need more power but other people who have ridden in it says its damn fast, not like o hey its quick but they say its fast and they own relatively quick cars (evo, sti, turbo mr2)..

I would say rotary at 300-350 isn't like V8 or even a 6 300. All of that power comes up high in a fairly narrow band. For me that means drag launches which I hate having broken some part in the rear suspension in the past. I love torque down low, my second car was a 454 Nova which ran 11's at 130 mph with slicks. While there are a few FD's that could match they wouldn't share that sense of raw power.

On the other hand most people who have been for a ride think its insanely fast. For the few whom I let drive it most are afraid of it and think the power come on too erratically to drive on the street.

If you truly own one and the engine and turbo's and turbo control system were working corrrectly this question wouldn't have even been asked, These cars if the turbo or turbo control system aren't working like they should will seem like a trude dog. Do you have a boost gauge and know if everything is working properly ? ? ?

Ive both driven and ridden in faster FDs, and 300rwhp is still fast. Its not the suck you in the seat fast like some of the single turbo ones, but it still rockets down the road. You lose the rush that you get when you first make that kind of power, but you can always feel that the car is fast. Fast enough to cover a lot of ground quicker than you expected.

If all you've driven are stocks Hondas then it'll feel like a rocket ship. In time you get used to it though. If you hop in an average car it's going to seem seriously underpowered. You get used to having the ability to overtake a car and make it a distant object in you rear-view in just a few seconds.

Like the others have said, the feeling is all relative to what you have driven/drive. To me, my car feels reasonably fast w/ 13PSI.

Mines around 300whp and I got the car about three months ago. When I first got the car I was scared to even get on the 2nd turbo but now the car feels slower than I want it. Others are very impressed by the power and think its more than enough though.

300whp in ~2800lbs ?!?! It's definitely going to be quick.

I have 320hp to the crank in 3600lbs and even that is fast enough for most things on the street. Besides, speed is relative. My daily driver is "fast enough" and my weekend car needs more mods

300rwhp is gonna feel fast as hell i drove my car running rich with not a complete tune (cause the wide-band died) making about 300rwhp for two days and it felt fast as hell even rich as ****. Then it was tuned at 14psi stock turbos and made 347rwhp and that really felt crazy fast and now with my t-78 and only 14psi running at 380rwhp it feels beyond crazy fast lol. Let me just say anything over 300rwhp is more than plenty. I took out a 911 turbo on the highway the other day with 380rwhp i don't know if he was a bad driver or what but i took him by a car length or two.

Stick with around 300rwhp and i know you will be happy sure after awhile it won't feel the same but you can still smoke almost anything out there and scare the **** out of your friends.

That is an awesome time..... You definately get used to the power. I went from bone stock and progressively worked up to 12.5 psi w/ all bolt-ons and a pettit ecu and it felt crazy for a while. Now I am running 15 to 16 psi w/ a large street port on 17's to help w/ the power and it still scares me every now and then. I believe once you start messing w/ over 300 rwhp you need to think about more rubber on the ground to help w/ traction. I can't wait till it cools off down here to drive her a bit more. I have been for a ride in a few friends cars still running 10 psi and I could not believe how slow it felt. In reality its not at all.

Most people I know, including myself have gotten that same response. Not as "quick" as the other cars, but definately "faster". Having experienced 500rwhp though, and 700rwhp (ironically in a Mustang), I can see what the original poster is talking about. Getting it to the ground is an issue, and in the former case so was lag...but any car (within reason) hooking up and putting 300+ rwhp to the ground is going to be a pretty fast car.

Power is like drugs - once you build up a tolerance you need more and more for that "high!"
