NY How far would you go to pick up parts..

So heres my story about me n my 2 buddys going to pick up parts in upstate n.y in a beat up 2002 nissan sentra with bad headlights bald tires and alot of check engine lights lol.First let me say this was one of the craziest nights i ever had, on the for sale section i saw a board member selling a driveshaft ,clutch master cylinder, slave n a flywheel for my manual conversion saw it was in ny so i thought i go pick it up so me n my buddys set off on an adventure i will never forget.it was 6 hours away upstate from where i live so we left around 4.30 in the afternoon when it was drove 4 hours without a problem then we hit by scranton and it started to snow like crazy and theres crazy mountains there so in the beat sentra we drove with the car slipping almost the rest of the way.my g.p.s took us down a back road with no streetlights no cars and alot of cows everywhere.my headlights are horrible because i previously had hids and they melted the housing now i switched back to halogens but they sit weird so little light.we drove scared as hell for another hour till we finally got there.picked up the parts then started heading back my friend said he would drive back so i fell asleep in the back.we drove fn for about a half hour until we got to this huge n i mean huge mountain which was iced over.we tryed to gain speed to get up it but the bad tires just made it slip we were going about 30mph when i decided i should push it not relaizing how fast we were going i opened the door and tried to step out n basically almost broke my wrist rollling down half of the mountain lol so we finally pushed it up the mountain after an hour.so we got on the i80 and started driving we hit black ice and almost hit a gaurd rail missed it and landed in a ditch filled with mud and water car was stuck we tryed to getr it out but the wheels kicked up mud on us everywhere and the car finally got it out by digging it out.finally made it home around 6 in the morning filled with mud and bruised up lol worst trip ever..

Paragraphs and punctuation are your friends...paragraphs in particular. I have no idea what you are trying to say. There must not be a written portion on the NY Driver Test. I see this post being moved...quickly.

My friend and I drove 2 hours to get a driveshaft before.

I never drove anywhere for myself to get parts. I usually get them brand new from sites or have them ship it to me.

Yep.... Just got back home... There's almost a foot of snow out there... The Civic conquers all..LOL

As far as parts go,I drove 4 hours for my Apexi WS catback for my hatch and about 3 hours for my Work Meister wheels... Both of which were extremely worth it.

I would gladly drive 6+ hrs for a good deal. Dealing in person is so much nicer; not to mention you meet fellow enthusiasts.

And YES, the FD forum isn't texting your "homies". Please us proper spelling and punctuation.

Also, very crazy story OP

depends on the part .... size .... and cost of shipping.

i'll drive to pick up an engine. I'll drive to pick up a transmission. I won't drive for a door handle.

I drove 12 hours (one way) to pick up my FB...

I drove 10 hours (one way) to pick up my spare rear axle for my FB...
-Well, I also went to my cousin's wedding that weekend, but the real reason for the trip was the axle...

here's a good one. some local guys who are part of the Skyline club where I live (I also used to own one) went from Vancouver BC to Nanimo BC on one of the BC Ferries with a carbon hood... and walked on.

http://forums.gtrcanada.com/showthread.php?t=50530

that's commitment.

and I drove 12 hours round trip to pick up my FD from Oregon.

I drove down to to SJ from SF (45min- 1hr trip) (started at 9 PM) to pick up the
hatch glass.

Found out the hard way it does not fit in the matrix.

Drove back to SF picked up a odyssey, went to buddy's shop to remove rear seats.

Drove back to SJ, but I needed gas but all the gas stations were closed for some odd reason (12am).

Drove back with the light on, cruising very slowly.

Back to my buddy's shop, pretty tried now (1am), got back home ~2 AM all this for 100 USD piece of glass, that had faded tint on that took an 1.5 hr to remove. Makes me wonder how much the rear stock glass is really worth.
