Bought mine about 6 years ago for 16,500 cash with 4x,xxx miles on it. I've dumped another ~10k into it in mods over the last couple years. I probably shoulda put the money in the stock market, but whatever...

I had some money in the stock market once, and then that blew out faster than the O rings on my last rebuild (240 miles).

No ****. If there's anything that people love to brag about besides their modifications, it's how good a deal they got on their car and/or how they paid for it all by themselves...

i'll be the first to admit that i got no better a deal than the seller. $10K for a salvaged 95? I'd say we both walked away evenly happy. As for how I paid cash, I got very lucky. My grandmother left me some money. Paid off my other car, the 7, bought a few other little things, all my tuition, and threw the rest into savings to use for a house in a few years. But then the $$ spent on school i may as well have burned. Wrote the IT school a check, went last Mon to attend the 1st class, and they were SHUT down. As in, no lights on, doors locked, and sign on the door from the Utah dept of consumer protection providing info to file a claim. Waste of $12K... Don't trust a school that's been around for only 15 years apparently.

Eh, I didn't think $12K was half bad. End up with an OCP certification, Java cert, and a DBA. Along with a full Linux, Unix, html, and .net courses. Whole thing woulda taken over a year. But I sorta mistyped that up. The whole thing woulda been $12K by the time I was done, but the check I wrote to begin with was for $6K, so that's all I was out. But I felt it a waste of all $12K since they closed even though I still have half, ya know?

Paid in full. I managed to get sponsored for freediving the last 4 years. So between my regular job and freediving I am where I am with it...Don't owe a dime on it...Actually, I take that back. I took out a small loan for me rebuild and single install.

I got a loan, $340 a month. I work at a casino, don't make much money, have to live with my Mom until I catch up, I'm poor as a joke, haven't been able to drive my FD for almost a year, finally caught up with credit cards, buying tires and registration for FD this week, finally get to drive it again....its all worth it!

It started when I was 16/17 years old.

- Bought a nice brown 1st gen, modded it, painted it, skirted it and sold it for a nice profit.

- Then bought another 1st gen cheap, modded it and sold it again for a bigger profit.

- Then bought another 1st gen for $1200 that was worth about 8K back then. Sold that for 6K

- Then bought a 1989 Turbo II, modded it, raced the hell out of it all over the place, fountain, hunts point, the tanks in brooklyn, amsterdam etc... Moved to Florida and sold it for a profit.

- Then bought my first 3rd gen, Red with a salvage title from OSA in Miami. Best deal I ever got, this was many years ago. Drove the car from FL to NY numerous times, sold the car in NY for 13K

- Then bought a silver 3rd gen. Modded the hell out of it, that caught on fire, still rebuilding it.

- Now bought a 1994 that had a small engine fire for a daily driver.

I guess the short answer is I bought and sold for a profit and never had any car payments, always bought cash....
