The more i mod my fd the higher the idle seems to go. When i first bought it, it idled at around 1k. I knew it was a bit high, but never thought much about it. After the intake and down pipe it was 1,100. Now, after the mid pipe, and cat back, and ecu its around 1200rpms. So how do i go about adjusting it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, CJ

Buy the manual. How dare you start modding your car when you can't even do something that simple.

Learn the basics first.

 

If you are running with the Power FC, you could change the idle on the Commander. It should take less than 5 minutes to change. Also, I think the normal range is around 750-850 RPM, I can't really remember right now.

 

There is a screw in the bottom of the throttle body that adjusts the idle speed. You must jumper the diagnostic panel to test before adjusting so that the ECU doesn't overpower you. It's right below where the intercooler piping attaches to the TV, there's a space in the pressure chamber (is that a pressure chamber?) so you can stick a screwdriver in there and adjust. Good luck.

Hey wait a minute.....this is a forum.....for questions concerning Rx-7s....do i not have the right to ask a simple question?

I have owned everything from a stock 79 Rx-7, to a 74 rotary engine pickup that had an EFI 13B Peripheral port on Nitrous. That made pretty close to 475hp on the bottle. I did pretty close to %80 of the tuning on the engine. Rob Golden did the fine tuning. %100 percent of fuel injection, motor, exaust, nos system and fuel system install. So don't look down apon me please.

So i guess i dont see the big deal about asking a simple question.

I run into the same thing when i take the manifold off or have to move the throttle cable. you can adjust the idle screw, but prior to that, what i have found is that you just need to adjust the throttle cable where the two nuts are that hold the cable to the holding arm. just loosen the 2 nuts so that there is a little more slack in the cable (just pull on it a bit) and you will hear the engine drop in rpm. hand tighten it, look at the rpm guage, you want 750 (+ or - 30 rpm). When you have that, tighten everything up.

Now, if that is not working well, you might have to loosen the cruise control cable (if you have cruise control). jsut follow the cable to near the firewall on the drivers side. remove the black cap, loosed the nut, adjust, retighten.

awww sweet...i think that will work. i have the same problem...and i just put the manifold back on. i have played with the cable...but after i gave it gas it would get stuck again. didn't think about doing what you are talking about
