How do I tighten my parking brake?

My parking brake is very loose, the idiot light comes on whenever I accelerate. How do I tighten it? Do I have to remove the entire center console, or just the piece that encompasses the shifter and ashtray? Thanks.

Nope. If the adjustment is too loose the handle can "flop" under acceleration and trip the light. The light is too dumb to know what the brakes are doing, it only knows where the handle is. Most times it turns out to just be low fluid though.

I just changed my brake fluid about a month ago... I don't think that it's that. The handle has been loose since the first day I got it a year ago, so I think it's the handle, lately it's been worse, though.

Take off the center console and there is a 10mm or 11mm nut on the bottom of the handle. Tighten the nut and it pulls the cable.
