Lightbulb How do I remove my headlight actuator? WTF happened to it?

I can probably get the rest of it off once I know how to detach the actuator arm. I don't think I'm supposed to remove nut (A), because I could risk mis-aligning the cycle. (B) and (C) are plastic ball joints. (D) is a nut that is actually on the other side of the headlight housing and holds joint (C). Please tell me which one I can detach and how.

Also, WTF could have caused the damage to the actuator housing? Rodents? Do you suppose that could have killed my actuator?

Thanks in advance!

Are you the origanal owner?

Mine is (was) the same way. The first year if not all had battery problems were they would leak in storage. I had to replace the radiater also along with a couple of other things.

Do you lights flip up and down on start up and shut down, mine did.

Did you mention if that was the drivers side?

Edit: yep thats the drivers side.

hope that helps

To remove the motor I would pop off joint B, then take the motor off the assembly. This would work as long as the new motor still has A attached.

i have the same problem. the headlight drive casing is fractured exactly as yours. my headlight/ driver's side/ cycles up and down initially and at shutdown. after a couple of preliminary attempts to fix the problem i finally looked at it and found the broken casing. the problem has always been near the bottom of my things to do list

i will be installing another unit this month... finally.

Thank you for the replies! I'll try popping joint B loose when I get home from work.
