How to clean out RTV from motor mount bolt holes

Searched, but found diddly.

The bolts I removed had craploads of RTV on them. Still unsure whether to put any RTV on the bolts when re-installing. (See this old thread for a long discussion: https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ts+mythbusters).

I have used some gasket remove products for removing oil pan gaskets and the like in the past and all were crap. All they did was loosen the RTV slightly - lots of elbow grease was still required for final removal, which is not an option inside a bolt hole.

Oh, bugger - you mean there is no magic fluid that I can just spray up there?

I have used gun bore scrub brushes in the past with good success. Just find the right caliber to fit your bolt hole.

ref link in case you have no idea what I'm talking about.

I had no idea what you were talking about. Looks interesting. Though, if I order one do I end up on Sarah Palin for President mailing lists?

It might be best if you find a local gun store and take a bolt with you to match up the size. This would also bypass any potential mailing lists

^^This man is correct, and I have been to many rodeos

Add compressed air (and safety glasses) as the final step.

So, do these bolts come with RTV from the factory?

It's RTV from a sloppy oil pan job.

Do not put it on the oil pan bolt threads.
