CA How to check compression with motor out of car?

I just picked up an FD Lgnblock with the tranny and starter still attached(CHEAP). I tried searching but dont know how and if I can do some kind of compression on engine while its out.
Any help will be appreciated

Hook up the starter with the tranny mounted to the motor. You will need a good sized battery.

Another way to do it is to turn by hand the front nut (19mm). When you turn it 6 times, you should hear 3 solid pops as you turn past TDC. If one of the pops is not solid then compression will be weak.

I'm also going this week to a shop to buy a FD longblock. I don't think compression test will be difficult but I'm scared with the coolant seal test...

Pineapple racing sells a little adapter to be able to test coolant seal pressure when the engine is out of the car. Pretty cool little device.
