Question How to change the turbo manifold on the twins?

Ok guys I have a set of twins where the manifold looks pretty bad with a couple of big cracks on it and I have another set of bad twins with a really nice manifold. Now my question is how to I switch manifolds over? Is there a nice write up somewhere I checked but didn’t really find any thing? Thanks for reading

Unbolt it?

If you looking for a diagram click on the FAQ thread at the top of this section and search for Factory Service Manuals or Tech manual Directory.

it's really not that hard. i put together one good set of twins from two 1/2 bad sets.

once the turbos are removed, just take everything apart, then put it all back together with the good parts that you have.

also, if you haven't already, you can port your wastegate and install a larger flapper, and/or port match the exhaust-side housings.

the closest thing i have to a write up is this:

not much of a step-by-step though.

just make sure you replace any gaskets that look bad, and make sure to use loctite on the studs/nuts. also, make sure you have the compressor housings clocked correctly, or else you'll never be able to get the Y-pipe & crossover pipe on correctly.

pretty much, i used parts from these 1/2 working to sets of turbos:

to make this one good set:

If not broken reuse the same turbo/manifold gaskets and tighten bolts with arm strength. No need spec torque for that. Some guys might argue what i just said but i never had a problem, plus you save your self some $$$$$.

Yes and I thank you again but I just bumped it to see if maybe I could get a more detailed write up on it or something. Any little bit helps not all the way but maybe if I get plenty of little help I can get the job right all the way.
