How Bad WOT at 76c 170f

How bad is it really to go WOT when your water temp is at 76c or 170f...I need proffesional opinions here...I have heard some people doing this with no ill effects but some people say that it is bad since the tstat is not wide open...not what if your tstat has been drilled out so lets say it has the added water flow, would it still be bad to go WOT?

If there is a thread on this already guide me please as I could not find it...

Why don't you just wait until it gets to 81 or whatever the thermostat is rated at? It is only a couple more seconds to get there from 76Once my car hits 70, it shoots up to ~81 super fast then just sits there.

I would play it safe and wait.

well I need to change my tstat, I belive that the previous owner had drilled it out because since I put the v-mount on, my temps with normal driving with 60f ambient air temps it preety much stays at 76c and will only go up when I hit some traffic..there are times when some v8's would try to mess with me and I cant since my temps are to cold..I just cant find the time to change my tstat since I work so much...I know it will only take me about an hour or even less to do it but I am just tired when I get home from work..Guess I will just have to change it to be on the safe side..

I've heard that the oil temps are more important than the coolant temps because of the viscosity of the oil at certain temperatures. Has anyone ever heard this before?

BTW: My rule is no boost or revs above 4k before 80 C on the Microtech Display.

^^i agree

i mean i havent heard any problems of revving past 4k before 180f but why risk it?

im pretty sure it does harm in the longrun..

so i try to rev no past 3500 til i see 180f on the temp gauge..
