how bad is turbo oil blow by for the engine?

Im sure im getting oil blow by thru the turbos cause i get bluish smoke after i hit the 2nd turbo and i found oil in my intake elbo. I am going to pull the turbos and have them rebuilt but in the meantime i wanted to know if it will hurt the engine if i continue to drive it hard? im guessing it could fowl the plugs, mess up the main cat....?

Oil in the intakes is extremely normal and usually the blue smoke isnt it going into your engine and burning but burning as it leaves the exhaust side of the turbo. You'll always find a film of oil in the intake pipes, but if you find pools of the stuff then your turbos are on their way out or about to die.

Nah, it won't hurt the engine. It'll happily burn some extra oil up.

Have you recently changed the oil? I did a post on this recently - if you pour the oil in while standing on the driver's side, the oil can slosh into the PCV system hose, which goes into the intake for the first turbo. I've had that problem - a whole bunch of oil in the intake after an oil change, and it was just some oil that got slopped into that hose. Use a funnel instead .

thats interesting dale. i have never heard that before, i did change the oil recently hah its always been changed recently with this car, but i only get the smoke after hitting the 2nd turbo, doesnt happen with the first.... i also get some bluish, sweet smelling smoke on startup which doesnt make sence realy (could it be coolant and oil?) , but itl last for like 10-20 seconds if i havnt started the car in more than a few days and makes a nice lil cloud that drifts around.

Actualy sometimes it doesnt smoke at all after the 2nd turbo, yet sometimes it does, more often after the first couple runs then it just does it half the time.

turbos are very responsive and boost great, i have them set to 9 psi all the way with the avc-r. I also have the oil pellet mod, intake, dp, cb, radiator.

Note from experience: if you overfill the oil you will get excessive blow-by during secondary turbo transition. As a result you will see a huge puff of black smoke during WOT. Yes it is normal to have oil in the piping but not excessive amounts. Also, too much oil coming out the exhaust will damage a catalytic converter.

Too high of oil pressure will contribute to this problem. To heavy of an oil, particularly when new, can push the pressure quite a bit higher than normal. I see a similar problem when the oil is really cold and I let the RPM's go to high; big blue cloud...
