Unhappy Horn and headlights will not turn off!

So out of nowhere the horn on my rx7 starts blaring solid. The headlights are also now stuck on... So far I could not find any solution short of disconnecting the battery or pulling fuses.

I've been reading through the electrical manual without much progress.

From viewing the electrical diagrams, it seems like the car alarm system is the only obvious component with direct connections to both the headlights and horn. And since the alarm has the capability of turning them both on (flashing/beeping), I thought that may be where the problem is.

However, I haven't had a functional alarm for 2 years. I'm pretty sure it was disabled or dismantled somewhere amongst all the mods. But I'm not intimately familiar with what was removed or what wasn't.

Any insight or experience as to what might be causing the horn and headlights to both become stuck?

I'd like to make sure I'm at least bypassing any remaining security system wiring, but I don't know how.

help please

meh..

How do I bypass the stock security wiring and where would I look to see if I'm still running through that circuit?

Thanks

there is a relay in the driver side kick panel for the alarm. you can jump it to get around the alarm system. Lots of people have done it, but I cant remember the thread where I found the how-to. Just do a search for "alarm bypass" and you should find it.

try unplugging CPU 2 in left kick panel there are two connectors on it. sounds like it bit the dust. Every thing should still work on the car except alarm crap.

Check/replace your relays. The ones on the passenger front of the car, by the intake, long skinny.

The above is in reference to your relay issue. You can pull the relays to stop the noise/lights, had this happen after my car sat for a few months. Is this relay box exposed to water?? That could be causing the short. I had allowed mine to get wet and what I assumed caused my problems

Clean contacts. If that doesn't work replace relays. If that doesn't work good luck...

Thanks!

It was sitting for a couple months during all this rain. Shame on me for letting it sit like that.

I'll check the relays for water and clean the contacts. Then pull cpu2 if its still happening.

Here's the thread, although I don't know if it'll help with this particular problem:

yeah thats different. I've had mine jumpered to avoid the "click click start" problem for years. I think that is just the circuit that leads to the the security switch on the steering colum.

It was raining all day so I couldn't see to fixing the horn issue yet.
