Hood pop cable relocation

Has anyone relocated the hood pop cable to inside the fender or around the engine bay?

I want to clean up the bay some.

I was thinking about re-routing it through the fender well.

anyone done this? comments? concerns?

thanks

Sounds like a bad idea to me. Hard to believe that the car doesn't need something more important.

To each his own. In theory I don't see why not. But the length would be off. Wait til someone more important chimes in. And if you are really bored take pictures to show me where it's routed OEM so I can put one in my car.

It's so buried under stuff that it's impossible to see normally. It runs very low along the frame rail. If you have a VERY open engine bay, you could maybe see it.

I'm sure it could be relocated, it's just a cable with a sleeve around it. It can't make any sharp bends and keep it away from chafing or rubbing, you don't want to rub through the cable then have to try and open the hood.

Hi rotary_rob, I had my bay ripped to shreds last summer and was contemplating hiding mines as well - but I opted to leave it routed in the bay for other concerns, I just cleaned up the area and utilized fresh clips to run it (moreso) out of sight within the oem pathway alotted.

For example, old Honda's had them routed in the fenderwell factory and it was a VERY bad idea.. Lets say it made it way too accessible for comfort.. (In my old prelude for example, I wound up routing it inside the bay and got a longer cable for it to work, routing away from heat/moving parts - but thats neither here nor there).

I'm all for cleaning up the bay, poke around and see what works for you but take into consideration the heat and anything moving. Personally I'd stay away from th fenderwells for the above concern, and for clearance's sake. Good luck with your project!

Anyone able to show me the clips/guides? I googling but not sure of what I see is correct. Sorry to thread jack but if you decide to relocate you'll need these parts anyways... All I have is the cable and latch assembly

I've been toying with the idea of removing all of the cable driven latches with solenoids (cept the doors). I hate how they all tend to fai land replacing the parts is annoying as hell.
