Hood lift at high speed

Boys-

I was coming in today and noticed I was getting a bit of hood lift at high speeds (+100). I have always noticed it, but because of the age of the car it was more of a 'shake' as opposed to lift. I had the car repainted this summer and the strip down and rebuild made it much more solid (doors, trunk, hood). I have a cautionary tale on aftermarket bumpers I need to write up, but the final product looks great.

Is hood lift common? Should I lay off the pedal a bit and not worry about it or consider putting in hood pins?

thanks,

Dan

I recently had to shim up the rubber hood bumpers with washers to keep my hood from shaking on my FD.

Buying new ones might help too as rubber can shrink with age and there is quite a bit of rubber in those!

actually, the body bends before the rubbers collapse. i've seen the part of the body that holds the latch break off too, as well as the catch in the hood.

it IS a Mazda, the $3 o ring is ok, you need the $1000 piece of aluminum the o ring goes into

its a stock hood. it was odd....seemed more of lifting than a shaking like it used to. I will replace the bumpers.

Check the striker thing that the hood latch latches to. The material on the round striker gets worn down like a channel making the hood move up and down. Add some JB Weld to make it round again. It helps.
