holes in blitz intake
holes in blitz intake
i was checking out my blitz SUS intake (previous owner installed) today and there were a few small holes in the filters(very small, the size of an "i" without the dot). it looks like they were burned through because it is slightly brown around the edges of the holes. should i replace the filters? and if so how much and where to get just the filters? would i be fine if i just put pieces of duck tape over the holes or something?
also, one filter was very dirty, how should i clean it if i dont end up replacing it?

I found the Blitz filers for sell at rxecret7.com for 96.00 each. If you want to clean your filters, I would take them to a tire shop or muff shop and ask them to lend you their high pressure air gun to blow the Filter(s) clean. Probably wouldn't cost you anything. Bring it back home and wash or soak them in water with dish wash soap. Take it to the patio and let them dry. I've done that with my K&N's and it works pretty good.
I'd spray them down with some all purpose cleaner and then hose them out from the inside out. Not sure about the holes though. Maybe cover the holes up with duct tape temporarily. That is one of the things I didn't like about the Blitz filters - stainless mesh.
damn, $100 for a filter? and i need 2...
i think ill just clean out the filters and duck tape the holes for now. actually, would there be much of a problem if i left the holes there without duck tape? i dont think they are large enough for any debris to get through. im thinking of just folding the mesh over so the holes are covered by an intact part of the mesh.
man, that one filter is really dirty. is there any problem wiping it with a wet cloth? i dont think a hose and cleaner will do much to help clean it.
