hmm should i buy an FD (emission issues)
i really want one, and ive found a few that i would purchase, but im worried if it doesnt pass smog testing. i live in california, maybe the most strict smog emissions testing in all of the US. grrr.. i was planning on modifying it to around 300hp or so, but i want it to be able to pass emissions testing.. soo... should i get one or not.. =\

You can do plenty to the car and still be smog legal. My car was pretty much bone stock when I bought it and it passed emissions like a champ. It was about as clean as my CRX was...both hardly registered anything.
As long as you have a good main cat, an air pump, and a stock or modified stock (M2, Pettit, etc) ECU, you can have an easy 260-280 rwhp car and still pass emissions. Of course, you can make way more power than that and use a Power FC, but getting it emissions-legal will require some tuning/money that you won't need to spend on a stock ECU-based system.
