hmm...which one goes where
I'm putting my motor back in my car and I have an aluminium and a steel motor mount. I've searched my shop manual and it doesn't specify driver and passenger side.

don't race, don't need to
Aluminum is drivers side. Steel is passenger side. Notice the three screw holes in the steel one? Those are the mounts for the heat shield.
The aluminum ones fail OFTEN. The rubber is only glued to the aluminum mount, whereas the steel has a bolt through design. Mazda now sells the driver's side mount in steel with a bolt through it as well. Malloy Mazda has 'em for ~$178 or so.

Man, that scared me for awhile. I put them in right cause I remember there being a heat shield that goes to one and it only makes sense that it goes on the passenger side with the turbos. As far as them breaking, I had them built by RotorSports Racing. You can't shake a stick at these urethane/aluminum mounts, you don't even need a torque brace. Thanks

Cool! I put stock motor mounts on my rebuild. Thing sways back and forth like a ship at sea! Thinking torque brace, but the urethane sure looks cool!
Thanks for the pic!
