HKS twin power alternative (2017)

Hi guys,

Is there something on the market that is like the HKS twin power? Im looking to upgrade my ignition system really soon and would like to purchase something plug and play that is as good if not better than the HKS twin power.

Seems like most are just upgrading the coils/setup and skipping the twin power.

The aem coils seem to be the new hotness right now. There aren't really other plug and play options outside of the twin power unless you can find a splitfire dspark max which is also plug and play. Try looking into an msd 6a box or something msd.

Make sure you ground the IGN-A1 setup directly to the battery, and use dielectric grease on the inner bore of the plug boot that mates with the porcelain on your spark plugs. To get the best spark I can't stress enough robust grounding

Forget about cruise control. I removed the cruise control and i dont miss it. I would remove it and set up those coils in a heart beat.

I haven't used cruise control (at all) in about six years or so... removing it from a sports car is no biggie imo.

IGN 1A is basically a kit of LSX style coils, although they are sourced for marine applications

I have the Crane Fireball system on my car for the leading plugs only. This was an older set up before the HKS Twin Powers existed. I have not had any issues with it. You can find this set up in older threads. I have thought about switching to HKS since it is set up for the rotary. But I really have no problems with this set up.

Though HKS aren't avail anymore (officially) I still see them fairly often. I picked one up in the original box a couple months ago at a fair price and pointed another out to a member on hear even cheaper not to much longer after that. You know how that works

The infatuation with the twin power is understandable but splitfire makes the same thing. It's called the dspark max. About the same price new and comparable performance...

I also went with this instead of the twin power. I know the guys at the shop were impressed with the quality of the kit.

Should be hitting the dyno in the next couple of weeks so I can let you know how it performs.

Another +1 for the Sakebomb IGN setup. I use it on my FD with a Gt35R @ 15 psi. Runs great

Plus it looks cool

Is it weird to say I have been using the twin power dli model which is a v6 one.... I just took the extra wiring out of the connector and its used with the stock coils.

I'm that lucky SOB because of you

If you make way to seven stock. First ribeye sandwich on me

Anyway. The HKS Twin power is a proven technology they are quality made and they do exactly as they are advertised you can't go wrong with it but new technology are also good as well so pretty much you have a lot of options to choose from pick wisely

If you are DIY'er purchase coils from Lance at Pantera EFI, I believe I paid 220 shipped for 4 quantity of the smart coils(same coils as aem and sakebomb). I also found a wiring kit that includes everything you need to build a harness(wires, fuse, relay, etc) for like 10-20 I believe it was.. Just have to follow the wiring diagram that is on a thread located in this forum. I also used a MSD universal plug wire kit. I can send part numbers to these items if anyone is curious just LMK.

Go aem, added option of going direct fire.....great mounting locations which is awesome considering factory coils in the factory location can suffer with heat related issues, stronger spark.....more flexible when tuning.

why would you not

Lots of people don't have the battery in the engine bay, though. What then?

Mine is in the passenger rear bin. Daisy-chained from the harness to the chassis, then back to the battery. I used a very long ground wire
