HKS twin power = higher knock level ???

Is that possible ?
After the installation of the HKS twin power with the same maps( max boost 0.8 bar ) the knock detonation level ( commander ) is higher .
Before around 55-60 and
Now around 65-70 !
What do you think guys ?

cewrx7 , i know that knock levels are too high , but i cant understand , why !
my car , now, runs with 11.7 -11..5 a/f ratio , with 12psi of boost !
PFC is tuned by Ray Lockhead with more fuel !

More spark = more fuel being burn. That Twin power seems to be WORKING.

You might want to tune it to 10.5-11 at 12psig. You might want to also look into installing a water/alc. injection system to prevent detonation.

I hate to break this to you but Ray's maps are nothing to call a "tune". You need to have your car professionally tuned. And just so you know 11.5-11.7 is not really considered overly safe. You prob want to be more like 11.0-11.3

As for the knock reading...I wont lie, I dont even look. As a matter of fact I dont even have a knock sensore hooked up on my engine....so I get 0 knock LOL

Sorry Stephen, but that sounds uneccisarily foolish to me unless you have a J&S hooked up, and then you'd be wrong in saying you have no knock sensor....

The power FC does nothing about Knock, anyhow, so I guess it's like a EGT gauge, it's interesting to see what changes when you mod.

I would suggest for anybody looking to tune or adjust their tune to listen to knock carefully, and be very concerned when it goes up, you might be getting a bigger sparc, but you might also be overheating the plug, and causing mild pre-detonation. Get someone that tunes rotaries to look at your situation.

stock knock sensor are not accurate when you have a built engine. Try readings of over 100 at idle on a street port with HKS Twin Power, single turbo, that should tell you something.

My readings are all over the place. It usually goes 100+ between shifts. This is with a car thats tuned 11.0-11.2 and conservitive timing. IMOP the knock reading it pretty much useless. CJ

Alot of you guys sure tune conservative on fuel for 12 psi boost. AFR of 10.5 at 12 psi is way rich for street driving. For track it's a no brainer, need to run rich for addl cooling of the combustion chamber unless running WI. Even 11.0 is rich at 12psi for a stock motor. I've consistently seen the stock PFC maps run at high 11 at that boost level with no issues, stock ports.

i think dave tunes leaner than 11.2 on boost with the stock twins.

When i make the first dyno test , with the PFC from Ray , the a/f ratio was 12.3 with 12 psi ( 321whp) .
But for me it was better to lose 10 -15 hp , and runs richer 11.5 a/f ratio ( 310whp ).
Something else :
The cars when launghing all the gears from 1000- 7000rpm my knock sensor dont goes over 35-40 , but if i tried to pull ( for example ) the 4 gear from 3000 to 7000rpm the knock sensor goes sometimes ........90 !
Why ?
Overheating intake temp ??
