HKS SSQV different noise pieces?

I've noticed that there are various "rings" you can place inside of an SSQV that can be purchased for around 50 bucks.
i'm really sick of hearing the standard SSQV sound, and my BOV is welded to my i/c piping.
my question is, does anyone have sound clips of the different noises they make?

thanks !

you can take out the ring it comes with for a different sound. completely gets rid of the high pitch signature ssqv sound.

i bought mine w/ the purple insert. it's very airy, sounds almost like loud stock or blitz BOV except it makes a slight high pitch chirp like original silver insert if you boost "VERY" lightly.

gold is suppose to be even more higher pitch than original silver..

I've got the same BOV and it looks like one very solid piece so how do you go about taking this piece off?

mine came with the purple tripoint insert, which i believe is standard SSQV that makes the high pitched noise.

makes sure you note that you have an authentic one... the replicas are very similar but you can tell the difference by noticing if you have a bleed screw on the back of the BOV. if you do, yours is a replica.

can anyone confirm the deal with taking out the ring entirely?

The Purple one is super airy, and almost sounds stock.

The Gold one is just like the 'silver' or 'stock' one, sounds the same.

No insert sounds a lot like the Purple one, almost unchanged from purple actually.

(reason I know, is cause I <3 bov's and own all the inserts)

Okay, debunked everything. According to descriptions on the HKS website, mine does have the standard insert which is high pitched. the gold is actually meant to be "higher" pitched, and the purple is to be "lower". i'm going to go tomorrow to pick up a purple one. THANK GOODNESS!

Based on comments i've read on other forums, as well as this one, the best way to get rid of the bird chirp is to remove the insert altogether. otherwise, i've heard that the different "fins" you can purchase don't really have much difference in pitch, which i can agree with after watching a few clips. i'm going to take out the insert tomorrow and let you all know what's up.

Mine has a screw at the back where you can adjust and its got HKS embedded on the BOV and the flange. I believe the older ones had this adjustable screw where are the more recent ones they made without this, IRC because people were over tightening them.

Maybe its the older style hks ssqv but the gold insert is a much higher pitched sound then the silver insert. Atleast thats been my experience.

And for a shameless plug i have a hks ssqv for sale with all three inserts.

The HKS with the purple insert is low frequency, gold is high frequency. I have the purple insert and I have notice that with higher psi, it sounds better. Anything less that ~9psi with my turbo is merely a high pitched squeak. Anything over 10 sounds proper.

okay, so i removed the insert entirely today, and it pretty much sounds like a slight bit of air coming out, otherwise its pretty much a sleeper. if you don't want any noise but want a blow off, this is the way to go.

Ditto.

I'm running 14 psi and here is my experience:

The purple is just a whoosh

Gold and the original silver are nearly identical in design, if not identical... But, the gold does appear to have a slightly higher pitch.

To access the insert you undo 4 of the allen screws around the opening... I believe the top left and then every other one as you go around. Then it pulls off and you just pop the insert out.

Also you should be able to get them for $20-$25 per insert thru your local shop.

There is a recirculation insert for it as well. If you want no noise and sleeper status, that's the way to go. It protrudes from the bov so you can attach a hose to it and recirculate it back into the intake. That is the only insert I do not have because I do not wish to have it
