Lightbulb HKS new racing suction intake

I just bought the new hks racing suction intake. It sounds super crazy..I think its the smog pump that makes alot of noise right when you hit the throttle. When i let my foot off the gas it makes this crazy growl from the smog pump... IS THIS NORMAL? And this intake makes my car sound like i have aftermarket blow off valves. My car has an hks downpipe, the hks intake, and a blitz norspeck exhaust with the silencer. Is all this stuff ok for my car? I shouldn't need an ecu upgrade, should i? Please let me know what you think...

thanks

yes the growl is from the smog pump very normal (remove it ) The blow off sound is probably from your stock blow off valves because they vent right back into the intake and with the filter being open the noise comes out also. Should be fine, just watch your boost gauge for spikes. I ran my car for a while with intake dowpipe exhaust midpipe for a while but I installed a manual valve later on and tuned down the boost to 7 psi.

i have the RS (racing suction) in my car.. its an entire kit that replaces both rubber intake hoses all the way to the turbos with two individual polished hard pipes... it has two normal HKS megaflow at the end of each and replaces the two relief valve hoses with shorter ones to plumb them into the piping.. the top hard pipe has HKS in raised lettering in it..

the kit is not available through HKS usa .. yet.. its not on their website and not carb legal like the megaflow kit they already sell here..

all the noises you here.. are normal..love the whine.. hate the smog pump sound.. sounds like a cow under my hood sometimes

Definitely think about getting an ECU really soon. You're running a pretty free flowing intake, you have a less restrictive DP and a less restrictive catback. That's 3 by my count, and that's the line for when you need an ECU upgrade. Don't get nuts on the boost unless you absolutely know you're not overboosting/creeping.

The HKS Racing Suction is really really nice. But it is not cheap. There is no US price for it yet but the HKS Master Goods cataloge has it listed at 65,000 yen.

The metal filters are not the RS filters. Those are the new HKS Metal Flow filters which are like the Blitz ones.

The super suction comes with yellow foam filters, just like the old green ones (I know I put it on his car). The pipes are very nice with a high polish. The kit comes with new hoses and clamps for everything.

The only difference in the actual filters on the RS is the design of the velocity stack. Basically the filters are the same as the Mega Flow filters.

I saw pics of the RS intakes on other cars and they had some sort of heat shield / cover on them. Heh, I guess the FD version doesn't have that from looking at those pics (although we could probably use one).

Seems like there's quite a few more FDs in San Diego these days. I'm in Rancho Bernardo off the 15, lemme know if u guys wanna meet up somewhere one of these days.

wpt: yes it is.

I dunno, it still looks like the same old hks mega flow, but a different colored filter, and hard pipes.. I guess I'd like to see an up close zoomed in picture of the filter.
