Nothing would be better than taking it to the dealer. If you let them diagnois your boost problem you'll wind up replacing your motor (seems to be there only out come) from anyone that's ever taken there car there. Good luck with your choice.

 

Sorry for the ignorance. I didn't realize the dealer was that bad. I definitely not take it to them. I figured it didn't hurt to ask. Thanks for the honesty cantgostraight.

Well if you ever do take it to a dealer, make sure you make it damn clear how many hours/dollars you'll authorize to do any item of work. They are ok for things like compression tests and oil changes, but their diagnostic experience with FDs is usually not good. So they sometimes follow the diagnostic flowhcharts and end up at the bottom where it says "replace turbos" or "replace engine". Their manuals are not updated with the knowledge that was developed later in specialty shops or on the internet, and so they are at a disadvantage unless the tech really happens to have learned FDs from somewhere else.

While your checking for leaks, check the "check-valve" in the brake booster line. It is one-way, meaning that you can blow air through it one way, and the other way you cannot. Make a note of how you take the line off, though. Orientation is important or you will not have brakes when you go to use them.

Well now the hissing sound is gone. And so is the boost. My boost gauge shows 0 under accelaration. No turbos at all. Please help. Thanks.

Well...

That sounds like whatever was hissing (loose coupler, etc.) has now completely come off or totally split. It should now be easier to find the problem!
