high idle after coolant change

the coolant hose beneath the intake elbow ripped the other day and spilled most of my coolant. so i went ahead replaced the hose and filled up my coolant again but now i got a high idle. 1200-1400. it was 800 before the change. can anyone enlighten me on why this might be?

Hi! Do you still have the stock radiator? I would suggest to replace the old radiator and all coolant hoses. Do not forget to replace the thermostat too. After replacing all the things that i mentioned, see whether the problem has been solved or not. Hope that this helps. Good luck

not sure any of those ^ have to do with a high idle.

see if u bumped something when u were doing the work on the hose.

like around the throttle body. if u took off the intake elbow make sure u put it on w/o any leaks

You probably need to "burp" the cooling system to remove trapped air - hot coolant may not be getting to the wax rod to lower the idle:

There are many threads on "burping," if you search.

I had a high idle for a couple of days after my last coolant change. I had also changed the radiator at the same time. It normalized after about a week. It was odd but it did fix itself.
