High Flow Cat
High Flow Cat
Hey guys, im kinda a newb but I have a question for ya....I just got my fd and it came with a megan racing exhaust and dosent have a cat...so basically it sounds like a huge fart
...I was wonderin what your opinions were to get rid of this...im just thinking of puttin in a high flow cat...or should I check out other exhaust systems....so lemme know what ya think
Thanks, Justin

Yea, I have a boost gauge...I just got the engine rebuilt at rx7store in columbus...Also, im getting a apexi power fc installed once I break the engine in completely...
The hi-flow cat will help with the sound somewhat, but that's kind of the rotary sound with an open exhaust....a better cat-back like the Racing Beat would improve the sound quality a lot.
I have a full downpipe exhaust system on my fd, but it has a huge cat right in the middle of the car. the guy at the garage were i bought there car suggested i taker the car out and replace it with a straight pipe. to gain horse and decrese heat. plus the cat is a lil rusty. what do u guys think?

so i should just replace the rusty catback with a newer one? He has a pretty highly modded FD and he has done alot into it and he has run into pretty much any problem with an fd u can run into... why would he say such things?
For one thing he has a highly modded fd so it's ok for him to have midpipe but for people close to stock or lightly modded fd's, stock cats or high flow cats are the safe way to go. If your catback is rusting, you should get a new catback asap.

Yeah be careful. A nearly stock FD with an intake and a straight exhaust w/ no cat is a disaster in the making resulting in overboosting and running lean. Read new engine.
I'd invest in a good boost controller and possibly ecu upgrade or piggyback before going with no cats. Without it, go with a highflow cat.
