High boost question

after installing an apexi avcr (incorrectly) i drove my series 8 around for approx 50 kilometers, could I have done any damage, it peaked at 21 psi of boost with stock i/c and fuel system ,pod filters ,mid-pipe and 3" exhaust.

i doubt it hit 21PSI otherwise you would have a brick on wheels in your driveway right now unless you have racegas in the tank, i guarantee that.

the avcr was on peak hold, and said 1.43 kg/cm2 , running on 98 octane pump fuel which equates to approx 20-21 psi

if you're running the stock ecu, a large amount of damage could have been done. if you want to be sure get a compression test done to see if the apex seals are still getting a good seal with the rotor housing.

i'm not sure of the capabilitie of the avcr, isn't it just a boost controller or does it control fuel as well?

the reason i ask is that if you ran that amount of boost for a moment but were supplying the correct amount of fuel that will definitely mitigate the damage that could have been done if you were only running the stock ecu.

either way....you shouldn't be running a mid-pipe if you still have the stock twins

Get a compression test. If it passes you were lucky.

it's possible on 98 octane then but only if the maps were excessively rich at high boost levels, enough to compensate for the fact that the stock MAP sensor runs out of room once it hits 17.2PSI so beyond that you are rolling the dice.
