Hi newb question???

Im thinkin of purchasing a rx-7 from a local dealership. Here is the problem.. its auto! Now i heard supra and z32 have some pretty good pull wit the auto tranny and sometimes faster then manual. Now is this true wit the seven? This one has bout 61k miles and another problem insurance. Im pretty young and i know supra tt insurance on teenager like me would rape me would this go same wit the rx-7? Plz any info on these would be nice.

Thnx for your time!

The only thing that is faster with an auto is a LS-1

The only downside to an auto RX-7 is that the auto tranny does not hold up as well in a highly modded car as the manual tranny does, but they are still very fast in stock configuration.

Insurance on an RX-7 will be at least as much if not more than on a comperable Supra, due to the fact that the Supra is a Sports Coupe (has a back seat) and the RX-7 is a 2 seat Sports Car.

Auto RX-7's are typically cleaner and less abused than the 5 speed versions, and they are still fun as hell to drive!

Good luck, and do a search, there have been lots of discussions concerning the pro's and cons of automatic RX-7's

yes insurance will rape you. do what i do and just get bare minimum, your butthole wont be sore as long. Insurance sucks, theyll never give you what the car is worth and if you make a claim, theyll jack up your premiums for the next 1000 years so in the end, youre paying for it anyway. Insurance companies exist to make money not help people. Worse than casinos, the odds are heavily in their favor and they can twist the game more than casinos can. You will never win in the end and they are a lot less fun than casinos. Insurance people, you can flame away if you want but ive already saved more than the cost of my car by just getting minimum coverage

When you get down to questions like maintenance you need to use the search function(top right hand corner) or eveyone is going to get on your case. Try seaching for reliability, maintenance, and so on, or just start reading some of the threads in the 3rd Gen area and you will find out a lot.
