hey ive got a question

there is this place i found via a web site and it is selling rx-7's its called La Motorsports, its selling its rx-7's with 3 year 36,000 mile national warranties, i was woundering if this would be a good deal, they are a leading seller of rx-7's and they have something like 6 in stock, would it be safe to buy a 93' rx-7 from them, would i still have to do all the required checks, and if it has a rebuilt motor what should I do, is it ok for a rx-7 to have a rebuilt motor, it does come with a 3 year 36,000 mile warranty

It really doesn't matter where or whom you get the car from, you should check it out like any other car.

If they already have paper work (like compression tests performed), as long as it was done recently, then it should be ok.

It's LA Motorcars in Richardson Texas. Where I bought my 7. Lance is an awesome guy! The warranty is not a warranty, it is a service contract and only approved service can be done to the car but it is a nice safegaurd. Lance preps the cars for sale (new fluids and filters) and if something is wrong with it he has Rotary Performance (www.rx7.com) to repair work. When the engine is blown he also has rotary performance install the engine. If you call Lance and tell him exactly what you want (in my cause an original, well taken care of, decently priced model) he'll find it for you. Gaurenteed. He is also the large re-saler of FDs in the country. Tell him Scott Engberg referred you, bought my VR 1993 Touring model from him a few months back.

P.S. If you are worried about the car, as Lance to have Rotary Performance certify it(do all the checks for you) you may pay for that service but you'll have more peice of mind.

And one more thing, the service contract is good at any Mazda Dealership across the country. That means squat to most but there are a handful of respectible dealerships out there, ask in your regional section and ask Lance if specialty shops are included as a viable place to have the service covered.

Service contract is like a warranty, but has more restrictions. If something typical fails, the mechanic looks at it and asseses the situation, then the service manager contacts the company that warrants the car. They determine weither or not the service can be performed. It works much like a warranty, but they have more freedom to make rules. If you mod it at all I think they can void it on their own discretion where as with warranties if the modification cannont be linked to the problem it has to be covered. If you want I can send you more information from the packet I have, but ultimately Lance is the guy to talk to. As far as a blown engine, many people on this board buy FDs with blown engines. They mostly do it to save money so if you are going to have someone else install the engine I wouldn't recommend it, but I'm not the one to talk to about that either...seach on that one. But a rebuilt motor is not a bad thing at all as long as you know who built it and you have tests to back up its integrity (ie compression test) If you are shopping from Arizona I'd ask lance to send you a compression test, boost pattern and a list of checks about a car you are interested in. If it fails any tests you can knock some money off, but he has sold them as low as 10K if it has problems. He will honestly search for exactly what you want and you don't have to pick what he has on the lot today. He gets several each week!

There is no reason for a rebuilt/reman/new motor to last less miles than the original if the owner takes good care of the car. These motors can break 100K if proper TLC is applied
