Hey guys prety n00b question... but how do i change the AT park idle?
Well.. i have to get an emissions test in order to get the car in my name because I can't get a hold of the last owner to write me a bill of sale. So i tried getting an emissions test yesterday and I have an auto, I tried putting it in park and it idles at 1500 rpm. When i put it in drive or neutral it idles at around 750-900 rpm. They wouldn't let me get a test unless i can get the car to idle at 1100 rpm or less when it's in Park. Is there a way to change the idle? I don't know if it helps but I have a blitz DCII turbo timer, greddy bov, greddy evo exhaust, megan downpipe and megan uppipe. How do I change the idle to 1100 rpm or less in idle. And BTW I tried using search for this and couldn't find any answers, any help is appreciated.

I have never figured it out but my FD idles higher as well when it is in park. I will pay more attention and see where it idles at when warm. It has a nice steady idle in any gear (750rpm) but when I stick it in neutral or park it goes up a few hundred rpms.
Maybe someone else can jump in here.

thats the same for any auto car, the idle will always be higher in park than in drive, I think it's because when the car is in drive the motor is trying to move the car but the brakes won't let it, so the idle is lower from resistence and it just idles freely in park, my lexus is that way

Darn it, so I can't do anything about changing the idle speed? They won't let me test because of the 1500 rpm, I understand what you're saying about how it's lower in drive, i know how it works, but is there any way to adjust it?

Adjusting the idle for an automatic should be the same as for a manual. It just sounds like yours is set too high - but you also could have some sort of a vacuum leak. Try reading this thread for idle adjustment:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=idle+adjust
If that does not work, you could also have a bad (or out of adjustment TPS). Try reading this thread:
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=idle+adjust
If neither one of those procedures work, you could have a vacuum leak. You also will probably want to go and download the service (workshop) manual from iluvmyrx7.com - it has a procedure for adjusting idle. I hope this helps, and good luck!

actually my car had a vacuum leak as well and it idled high ( i have an automatic as well also) if you never had all the hoses replaced it will cost you about 700 or you can do it yourself which is a real pain. i tried to then i just brought my car to someone else
