Unhappy hes dead!!...my 7 i mean

after months of hard work and diagnostics, after replacing countless crap on my car... it was JUST an apex seal... first rotor got low compression readings and after all that crap i wish i would have just cheked the new rebuild's compression, un-burned gas was just pouring out the exhaust manifold and coming out the dp gasket.... everyone thought i was crazy when i said the motor was leaking fuel, but i should of trusted myself. now im stuck with a 8700$ loan, a car that doesnt run, 1,500$ spent on parts and now needs a rebuild... im goint to shoot myself or i might just blow it up with me inside... this car has drained every ounce of patienece, money and mental stability in me! its an evil car! and he should choose you! and never be choosen by a mere human... now excuse me i need to go to therapy...

a t k i n s .... the thing is that the rebuilt was done then the title was passed on to me after the motor wus in, so by their policy it cant be transferd to a new owner... even though i paid for it.

We had a local guy to me pay for one of their race motors. It was utter crap. The engine was eventually shipped to Pettit and found that it was a frankenstein motor (parts from various years RX-7's). Pettit was surprised the motor even started at all.

Needless to say, this guy spent a ton of money on a pile of recycled metal. The core wasn't even useable for rebuild. He ended up buying a reman and then had Pettit build him a motor. However, none of his costs were recoverable.

Moral of the story, if the car has one of their engines in it, stay FAR away from it.

You wouldn't happen to know how many miles were on the engine or when it was installed would you?

if youre seriosuly considering getting rid of the car, i may be interested in purchasing it for what you owe on the loan. if you'd be interested, shoot me a PM with some details and your email address.

otherwise, good luck. these cars suck at time, but then they run, they're oh so good

This is what really scares me about buring a 7, I'm going to buy a book and try and source a blown motor, then try n learn how to do a rebuilt myself - who knows maybe they'll be a call for it in midwales

No one seems to have addressed the fact that this man is about to jump off of a cliff. I know how you feel. I have a large pile of parts that used to be a car and sometimes I look at it and wonder if it will even start when I put it all back together... It's very depressing to keep trying to get to that point of being done with taking stuff apart and starting to put stuff back together again, but I always seem to have one more thing to dismantle - it's looking pretty bad right now.

Have hope. If you only paid $9k for the car you did pretty well. I would put a reman in it and be done with it. Hell, with a $2k reman and your own labor, you could turn the car for about $12k invested (after various parts) and probably sell for $14 - $15. Or, you could feed the passion and keep and love it no matter what the cost.

In my opinion a broken RX-7 is like a faithful old dog. No matter how old he gets and what breaks, you go to any expense to save him because he's your dog, dammit, and he's gonna live forever.

Damn that sucks!! I feel for you. Is it even drivable? Perhaps most of the parts on the engine are still reusable, especially being that it was a fairly new rebuild. Maybe a lot less worse then you think, just a matter of time and a bit of money.

But, you couldn't be closer from the truth. These things can rip you a new one, but boy do they look sexy.

Is this your only vehicle? If not, and I were in your position, I would just take this as a chance to learn more about the car. Rebuild the original engine yourself, or have someone like pineapple rebuild it and remove and install yourself.

LOL the funny thing is you're probably less prone to break something working on a nuke. Oh and parts for nukes are probably cheaper as well.

xxfetusmanusxx - atleast you know you have a group of people who know EXACTLY what you are going through. heh, like AA almost. We all wonder why we keep working on it, over and over again, until we get into that driver's seat... and then we remember exactly why we do.
Hang in there. I'd have a really good RX7 mechanic take a look though.. it prob costs a bit more and all, but its good for the sanity issue. I seem to feel better after DAve at KD takes a look at my rx.. chuckle.
