HELP!!!!!!! tranny just died...

Automatic Transmission just died??? Doing about 75 and the rpm's jumped to about 7800...and that's it...no more power...pulled over and the car wouldn't go into any gear... the engine starts fine...there's no smoke everything runs great just won't go into gear...

The car only has a few hundred miles on a rebuilt ported engine with a full exhaust and a powerFC, is there anyway it could have something to do with the PFC??? maybe not getting a signal or something??? I'm thinking it's time for a new tranny....

If tranny time, What should I do??? I'm thinking of either swapping to a manual...or doing the TH350 conversion with a shift kit....any info you guys would have on the chevy tranny conversion would help...i've looked into the 5-speed swap and i'm just not sure if it's worth the extra money....thankS

Kevin

You can do anything you wish, but first make up your mind as to what you want. Cheaper to fix than to swap to a standard transmission.

But, a FD RX-7 with an auto is so balless!.

Check those two hoses on the bottom (drivers side) that are next to the area where the engine and the trans meet....you might have sprung a leak and never even knew what hit you.

You can get a fully rebuilt Auto FD tranny with torque converter for about $900

http://www.phoenixhardparts.com/Merc...egory_Code=MAT

But I wouldnt waste the money on it. With your mods the stock tranny will not last long, no matter how many rebuilds you do... Just wasnt meant to hold that kind of power.

Either go with the 5spd swap or down the uncharted road of swapping in a domestic AT in there.
