HELP title question

I am considering purching a 94 base model, i think its a base, could be an r2, but its in florida right now, and it has a Cirtificate of destruction as the title, and NC wont give me a real title, sopposedly the car was stole soon after it was sold in 94, and the air bags, steats, and wheels were stolen, and in its history someone bondoed over the vin and someone else pured gas on the eingne and lit it on fire, but when the closed the hood it went out immediatly, the guy who has it now bought it to fix it up until he found out about the title, he wants to take the engine and trans out and will sell me the rest of the car for $5000, but i dont know how to get a title for it, im sure there is something i could do, any ideas? or can someone show me where i can get a good price on anotehr CYM, i miss mine SOOO much!

thanks

Ken

FYI, in addition to the title troubles you're having, be sure to keep in mind that building a car up like that is likely to be a pretty big undertaking, and if you're going to do it all yourself, it's likely to take quite a while (unless you're a no-job-having bum ) You'd probably be looking at ~1 year or more to get all of the parts and stuff into it if you do it yourself.

don't buy the car it will only cause you headaches. it would take someone who knows the rx-7 well (meaning they've owned and worked on one before) at least a year to gather up all the parts for a reasonable price to put back together. add on top of that the salvage title and you're looking at a car that'll be extremely difficult to sell in the future if need be.

take it easy and try saving up longer because you get what you pay for.

$5K for a shell?? that's just plain stupid.

Call up your insurance company and ask them what the salvage value on a '94 RX7 is. Subtract at least $2500 from that (for the engine and tranny) and then you're getting more realistic.

You're better off finding one that doesn't run at all, offering $5K to take it off their hands and putting some work into to it to get it running.

Hell, there's people on the forum that have picked up functioning 7's for $8K.
