Ok first post here guys and Ill start y saying hello!

I currently have a 1994 del sol vtec which I love to death. Yesterday my friend came to me and offered me a lot of money for it. I will most likely sell it and I am looking at a couple of cars here. Namely the rx7 and thats what brings me here. I love your car and really want to buy one. A few questions though. What is so great about the car? I dont know much about it and I want to know a lot! Also I hear they have huge reliability issues. Is this true? Another thing is, what prices/ year/ options should I look at? (i like 2 seats and power and handling)

Try looking in the 3rd gen archive. The FD is definitely a love/hate relationship. Definitely do some research before you buy one.

 

Research, Research, Research. those are the 3 key words when looking to buy a FD (FD stands for the model, witch 93+ is FD3S. FC is the gen before 93+ etc.) also try to learn as much about the Rotary engine as possible. Hope everything works out for ya.

They don't have reliablity issues if you maintain them properly and first do the "relibility mods" to help it along, it will last.

They all have ps,pw, & pl. They all handle good but the R2's (94 & 95) handle better.

 

GsrSol- I don't think it makes too much difference in the handling since these car are pretty old and you'll prob have to buy new suspension on any used one ya buy.

I don't recomend anyone who can "just" afford a FD to get one.

Research is important but we all know that its more money and patience than any thing else.

I think reliability and FD's really shouldn't be in the same sentance. I did have 113k on the car when it was abruptly taken from me. But it did have it's share of problems in it's life.
