HELP! Plug wire terminal stuck in coil!
HELP! Plug wire terminal stuck in coil!
My friend and I were trying to change the plug wires on my car. When he pulled out one of the leading plug wires, the wire terminal was left stuck in the coil..... It looks like the wire may have arc'ed an welded itself to the inside of the coil terminal. Is this fixable? So far we haven't been able to get it out. We've tried all types of pliers, but the needle nose are the only thing that can grab it. It won't move at all, and show no signs of letting go. Any suggestions? Or do I need to get a new coil.........
People have dug them out before and not had a problem with the coil, but I just replaced mine when I had that problem. Using a little dielectrical grease in there keeps that from happening.
Good news!!!! We used some pen oil to try to loosen it up. When we used the needle nose again, part of the plug wire terminal broke off. But that was good, because I was able to get a small screwdriver in there and twist the rest of the terminal out. Alot of corrosion, white corrosion. How would you suggest we clean the inside of the coil terminal? Thanks!
