You probably did NOT buy a lemon, you are quickly turning it into one though
Sorry man but it is a harsh reality. Just do some research and most on here along with myself will do all we can to help you.The reason you lost reverse is because you bent the shift fork when you missed 3rd gear while you were raising hell in the car, now you are probably remembering the times you missed 3rd, dont worry almost everyone has done this at one point or another.
The fuel smell in the oil could be a lot of different issues, it is common to smell a little but it having a strong fuel smell isnt common. Could be bad PCV valve, car running extremely rich etc. I highly doubt the car is a lemon, well in all honesty it is a FD and some past owners will tell you they are all lemons.
These are just some of the issues that comes with buying a high performance car for the same price as a Kia. Take the good with the bad and spend a lot of time reading the forum.
EDIT: I just read about the place you bought the car, I have never purchased from them but have had some strange conversations with them in the past. However, I have never been ripped off by them or anything.
Sorry it turned out this way for you, hate that it happened to you but now others will know to stay clear of that place.
yeah . the company has theres coming i have an apointment with my lawyer on monday at 9:00 and we are going to bring these people down . i also have not had time to run this car hard i dont care if people believe me or not . reverse honestly just crapped out when i was filling up my car then i parked it in a spot to get a pop . the only gear that was bad was 5th gear it would grind a little . honestly everything is going wrong with the car and i did not abuse it . i didnt have time to push it at all . there is less then 100 miles i put on it . also the cel came on today too . so now the coolant oil and cel are on and buzzer go off like crazy. i think its safe to say it was a lemon . there is little things they forgot to mention to me until i got the car . like damage and missing things . it really pissed me off its going back .
only one can ride no passenger seat belt . oh and glove box is a bitch to shut if you can manage to wiggle it shut .

If you are looking for a higher quality fd just let me know and I will point you in the right direction. We have sold more fds than anyone else in the country, just let me know what you are looking for and I will let you know what I can do for you. However, we probably wont be selling too many at to good to be true prices
You have probably already learned from that mistake though.

hope everything works out for you buddy.
As far as the smoke puff from the oil was the engine hott when u checked it?
Maybe a small drop of oil had dripped and hit a hot part of the motor and u saw the smoke.
well ho fully it's not to big of an ssue to either have them fix i or refund your money.
Good luck

Most of the requirements are of the fact that you have 'tried' to have the issues fixed. If you haven't, then I don't think you'll be able to claim "lemon" just yet. It's not simply that you 'purchased a broken car'. IMO, I think your lawyer fees are going to out-weigh the cost of actually fixing the car. I would simply proceed with getting the car checked out by a specialist and getting an estimate on the money it would take to make it drivable.
There's no oil level gauge, that's the oil pressure gauge. Which should go up and down depending on RPMs.
As stated before, oil smelling like gas is expected on a rotary. I changed the oil on my FD before it was running. I then drained the oil, which had only been in there for 2 months and the car had never started only cranked, and it wreaked of gas.
5/R going out is a common issue, especially if you slam the gears ever (you're a teenager and this is a high power sports car, don't try to deny it). I broke my 5th gear synchro within the first 50 miles driving the car home from the shop where it had been rebuilt, and I wasn't slamming gears.
Again, as stated, it's very common for the oil level sensor(the one that throws the light) to fail. Not so much as it fails, more as the wires tend to be brittle and break for no apparent reason. If your oil level looks fine after the light went off, I'd say call Ray, order a new one and take a few hours to do an oil change and replace the sensor.
When you checked the coolant level, was the car completely cold or was it still warm? Even if the coolant is cool enough that you can remove the cap, but not at ambient temp, it can appear to be full when it actually is low. Or it could be that there is air in the system. Check for disappearing coolant (in the morning, before you start the car) and have the coolant system pressure tested at a local rad shop.

Is a Used or Leased Car protected?
It depends upon which State the car was purchased or leased in. Some states include used and leased cars in their Lemon Law statutes. Some states have separate laws for used vehicles. Some states provide protection only for new cars. In some states, even the Attorney General is unable to tell you if a Leased vehicle is covered due to the way the law is phrased and you will be referred to an Attorney for clarification of the law.
