help: oil filler neck/intermediate housing

right near where the oil filer connects on the intermediate housing below it is a metal nipple, what connects to it? the closest thing to even mentioning this area in the fsm has no real info on this metal nipple

That's a 2nd Gen crankcase ventilation tube. You can either plug it, or plumb it into the current PCV lines.

Not necessarily. There are 3rd gen motors that have these as well.
This was verified with Rob Golden at Pineapple Racing.

I have one of those motors - you definitely want to cap that off, or there will be oil everywhere after some spirited driving.

i capped it off with a 1/4" vacuum cap with a little rtv and a zip tie, hope it holds up *crosses fingers*

I'd keep it and reroute it preturbo (as the 2nd gens did from the factory) or to a catch can. You know some people go out of their way to create extra crankcase ventilation for their motors?

That's a great idea. Wish I had thought of that before getting the catch can setup.
