Question Help: New Side Seals

I'm doing a rebuild. Just want to verify with anyone who has done one.

Do new side seals for the rotor usually come a little longer than what they need to be to fit?

All of my new seals are just a mm too long. Anyone else have this same situation, and did you just go ahead and grind them down to fit?

Thanks for your time

yes, they are suppsed to be too long. i used a dremel to grind them down, but be careful, it grinds fast. also, there is suppsed to be some space between the corner seals and the side seal ends. this is to allow for expansion due to heat. i can't recall the specs for min and max space, though -
