According to the parts diagrams, the front harness has an MT and AT version. (A new one from Mazda runs around $1750!). Just check on the 5 speed conversion threads and see what they say.

If your going to have it down now would be the time to go ahead and swap to a manual. The auto is fine the way it sits but has its shortcomings. They don't respond to mods very well, are limited on what kind of engine management you can run (And retain functionality), and basically are power limited (I was probably make 300 at the wheels when mine bit it). You can get most of the parts together for the swap for $1500 or less and if you have to buy a harness anyways might as well make it a manual harness.

In my area a decent manual will sell for at least a couple grand more than an auto in the same if not better shape, which is why I bought a auto in the first place.

Just something to think about while you have it yanked apart. And truthfully the auto scared me, I don't like the loss of control, and as much fun as the hold feature is, it is not a substitute for a manual tranny. The first time the auto shifts from first to second going around a corner in the rain you know what I mean.

Just curious....you mentioned it had been sitting in storage for a couple years ? ?? Did you drain the fuel and refill with fresh gas and a moisture eliminator ??? I know when my jeep sits for extended periods of time 6 months or more once I get it primed it starts, but runns really rough and needs lots of throttle to maintain any kind of run, but smooths out once I get new fuel into the tank. You should be able to repair the harness till you find what you need. I think I'd sure try and get it running before i jumped off into a manual tranny swap, but that's me.

It will run just on the primary coils, but suggest you replace the secondary as soon as possible.

I GOT IT RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry, my excitment got the best of me....

It was the leading coil, i replaced it and it fired up, smoled for about 5 mins(due to sitting so long), and runs, good as a matter of fact...

Here are my concerns, i have very little poerw in the lower RPM Range, but as soon as 4500rpm comes arond i feel it move, i think (pretty sure) that something is not hgooked up right..... that damn ratrs nest....

Would you guys recomend a Simplifed Sequetinal setup?? i could try it i guess....

Diagnosing the stock system is entirely possible with a little patience.

I recommend a boost gauge, first and foremost. Get a boost pattern.

You might be surprised - like this guy.
