Question Help....Need some ideas

What are some cheap upgrades performance wise to increase horse power, top speed and help times in the 1/8th mile? I purchased a chip, cold air intake, 3inch exhaust but still cant get anything under a 10.5 in the 1/8th mile, need some ideas. I have a 1993 fd with 70,000 miles on it i replaced the turbos after one gave out. I also heard that a stock rx-7 should put out 10 pounds of boost whereas mine only puts out about 6, i put a boost controller on and now it will run and hold 13 but cant get much more than that. But any ideas would be nice, im a 17 year old kid with a dad as a car mechanic and has been for his whole life and could care less to work on a rotary motor. . . . .

First of all, I've highlighted the main problems of your post. We'll deal with each one accordingly.

1. What sort of "chip" did you buy? Please tell me it's not one of the magic "+15hp!" chips. If so, throw it away.

2. I ran a 9.8 in the 1/8 when I had a massive boost leak. If you're can't run faster than that, something is majorly wrong with your car.

3. Why did you think the turbos gave out? Who replaced them? What did you replace them with?

4. The regular boost pattern is 10-8-10. If you read the FAQ posted at the top of this section, you'll learn more about the boost pattern, why it does what it does, and what it means when it doesn't.

5. If you're running 13psi, but can't run faster than a 10.8 in the 1/8, plus you only have the stock ecu as far as fuel correction goes... It may already be too late.

Answer my questions, read the FAQ at the top of this section, and pray.

1/8 mile and 1/4 mile times mean a lot more if we know your 60 ft. time too.

Even with a shitty 60 ft time of 2.4 I ran 1/8 mile in 8.89 and 1/4 mile in 13.30 on hard street tires.

I agree there is something wrong. A boost controller can't add boost, only control whats already there.

Wow....

Either there's something terribly wrong with your car other than the obvious issues Merlin addressed, or there's something terribly wrong with your driving...

The chip i purchased is called a juice box,

I also have an automatic, if that changes anything, and i knew it blew when it was like to the floor and i was only runnin 45 mph down the road, along with the massive smoke shows out the exhaust that would surround my car

so i went ahead and replaced them back in with stock turbos, and me and my dad replaced them, he knew enough about that part to go ahead and do that

Where does that juice box connect to? That isn't something common to install on a FD.

Are you sure you didn't blow your engine? Without turbos, your car should be able to go faster than 45mph. What "EXACTLY" is your boost pattern?

You're screwed. From the Juice Box site:
Note Our Products do not work on Turbo or Diesel Vehicles (sic)

This is just another example of someone not responsible enough to own an FD. This is why some of us have to repair the FD's we buy.

Trojan, it can save the world a lot of frustration!!!

Yep, I'm afraid you just got an expensive lesson on how tuning is critical on FDs.

On piston engines, these junk ECUs might only do minor damage. But on FDs you blow your engine. I hope that didn't happen to you, but you should start with that possiblity first. Get the compression checked, and pony up the bucks to have the car looked at by a good rotary shop.
