Thanks man... But one of the FD owner here has the ss mid and RB catback.. He's car isn't that loud at all.. I guess its the N1 Dual.. Damn.. I knew it will be loud.. but not this loud.. Anyhow, I think I'll spend my 80 bucks and try to get a silencer.. I heard I'll loose 50 HP or so.. is this true??

I had a resonator on my 82 GSL. I really didn't help much. Most of the sound goes straight thru. Then I had a high flow muffler welded in. That helped a lot.

Wrapping the DownPipe will get HEAT out of the engine compartment, But is a waste of time if you are looking for NOISE reduction. 90% of the sound is coming out the tail pipes NOT radiating thru the walls of the down/mid pipes.

I see.. That make sense.. I guess the best route will be to just get a silencer and use it when I'm driving around.. And when I feel frisky, I'll take them off..

I'll go head and get some heat wrap to wrap the down, mid.. or do you think its not worth the HEAT...

Its your dam apexi exhaust. I had a dp and apexi gt exhaust and i almost lost my hearing. I was running the stock cat. The apexi exhaust is a really nice exhaust but way too loud. On my other fd i use to run dp, mp and a hks cat back and it was perfect not too quite but definitely not ear piercing. But i did like the sound of the gt at idle and wot, just didnt want to hear it all the time. And cruize was horrible at around 3200 rpm with the gt.

you won't lose 50 hp using the silencer....more along the lines of 3 to 5 at the worst. Your butt dyno won't feel 3 to 5 hp you lose either.

I'm running d/p, mp, and an old PFS Catback that has lost all of it's muffling capabilities . Car is loud as ****.....my Mom told me when it's warming up in the garage the pictures on the walls shake. I was talking to her the other day (she was inside the house) and I could distinctily hear my dad pull out of the driveway, and tear *** through 1st and 2nd gear up the hill.....gotta love it

Also, keep in mind that I live in TX, the land of redneck glasspack pickups and harleys. My FD blends right in

I had the straight pipe w/RB dual tip. It was too loud. When the second turbo comes on - really loud. Pettit put in a Magnaflow muffler in the straight pipe now it's perfect. Throaty not buzzy. I didn't want to sound like I'm trying too hard.

Show me a pic of the silencer for the n1 and I will tell you. The silencers we made make my car so quiet and loses rediculous amount of horsepower I'd estimate 30rwhp. It's a totally different car with them out. With them in it's not embarrasing to drive around town and stuff so they are really worth it for daily driving. It also stops the soot from going on my bumper and makes my boost go down 1psi.
The n1 is loud because it flows extremely well. If you get another exhaust you will lose a good amount of horsepower that was your edge against other 7s.

Get a resonated midpipe. It does wonders for sound control and you still get the same power as does the non resonated MP.

Hey guys.. Thanks for the infos.. Just to let you guys know.. i have purchased N1 Silencers.. And to be honest, I could feel the difference in power.. i don't know how much.. but could definitely feel it... Also its slightly less loud.. about 10-20%.. MAYBE that's how much i'm loosing power..

you could get an exhaust that has a silencer, that way if you want it loud you could unplug it, and with it in you could drive around without anyone knowing.

Wrapping doesnt seem like it would help sound to me, You should talk to someone at an exhaust shop, allot of times a glasspack will quiet things down a little but will put kind of a raspy sound in which I dont like but thats what most of the hotrodders do...

Have you had any problems with the magnaflow. I had one on my old Eagle Talon and the muffler packing burnt out. I know the exhaust is hot as hell coming out of the FD. Just curious

I put on my silencer recently and my car performs very differently. I noticed right away that I lost a bit of boost on the top end, but it spools up faster and easier for some reason (I think the Apexi FC is confused).

It's still a bit noisy, but it's much better than the obnoxiously loud exhaust I was getting before. I dont think I'll be getting pulled over for this again.

Phil, there used to be a guy in Huntsville with a FD auto with the same exhaust as you. Had mid pipe and it was SOOO loud. He would leave my work and I could here him 1/2 mile down the road! He did not have the silencers but I am sure that would help.. I am running the RD single with down/ mid pipes and it is only loud when on the throttle. Not sure which would take more HP, adding a muffler or switching to RB?

I have the PFS cb with mp and dp and have had it on for about 6 months now. At first I thought it was way to loud and was looking over my shoulder every second for cops. A cop has never said anything to me about it yet so I have been a lot more slack about being careful keeping it quiet. But there is a point in the gas pedal where the car is alot quieter that I use when ever passing a cop. Mine is right about 2500-3000 rpm off on the throttle just enough to not let the engine drag. The loudness goes away with time. Well not really it just seems like it

I came to a conclusion that it was not the resonators in Midpipes.. but lot to do with your cat back.. I have a buddy with exact same set up minus the N1 daul.. He has RB dual tip.. And it sounds lot less loud.. I mean even with my silencers, he's car is lot less loud then me.. So, by comparing.. I guess its the cat back..

I thought about switching to different catback.. but I like the N1 dual, the look of it.. and I could always take the damn silencers out if I do track events..
