Help me repaint my engine compartment.

Hey Guys,

I have my motor out of my car at this time and I found some spots that needs to be repainted; brake booster, shock tower, and down pipe area. I have a 1993 VR base
RX-7.
I don't have the funds or the time for a professional job, I just need something that will look good-great from a can. I'm planing on sand/prime/base/clear the compartment for a smooth finish. Anyone done this with good result, please post some of your thoughts and
the results.
What brand of paint did you use, and paint code or name.

Thanks, Jay

I think I used this

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

I had to touch up my engine bay (VR also) from a leaking abs. I didn't even to the greatest prep work and it turned out fairly good. It's buried anyway. I also use a clear coat. The color is a bit brighter than surrounding but I think that's to be expected and it's still pretty close.

Wow, very nice find. It's a bit more than what I wanted to spend on the engine compartment. Because I think that I would need like three to four cans of base then two cans of clear.

Thanks, Jay

P.S. How is your back treating you these day old man? Put away that pistol, I was only kidding.

That was Plasti-Kote brand paint. I did end up using Dupi-Color on the other side and it didn't work as well as the Plasti-Kote brand. I don't have any more pictures as the engine is in the car so there's not much to see around it. The Plasti-Kote color I ended up using was Ford Red IIRC.

I'm still recovering from surgery. I was hoping to be able to hit the track by now but that was way too optimistic. I'll need about another 8-10 months of recovery and physical therapy to get back to where I want to be. I did a test fit of my Momo Start 2007 seat a few days ago and realized that there is no way I can sit in that just yet.
