Help me figure out what parts are missing under my front bumper
I'm trying to figure out what OEM parts that would normally be under the skin of an FD bumper (regular US market 93-95 FD bumper) are missing on mine. Not having played much with FDs, I took a look at the FD parts fiche drawings of the bumper assembly, and it would appear I'm missing reinforcement bits that would be under the bumper skin? If it's anything like an FC, that would be the big styrofoam piece under the skin. Please take a gander at the pictures, and let me know what else might be missing. Hopefully the PO still has that stuff sitting around his shop since he installed the FMIC. I picked up an R1/R2 dual oil cooler setup recently that I'm going to install, and since I'll have the bumper off for that, I may as well deal with restoring the bumper too.
Here's a view looking straight down the hood opening from above, angled a bit towards the front bumper.
This shot is from underneath at the radiator opening.
This view was taken from the turbo area, looking forward & down into the bumper area. Probably can't see much there.

attached is the pic from the parts catalog. 56-A20, the air guide i think is one of the missing bits. it basically holds the bottom of the bumper and under tray.

Yep, big time that air guide is missing. In the parts diagram it's on the right side, 4 vertical bars, it's plastic. Also it looks like the main front bumper reinforcement may not be there either.

Yup, I sort of figured out the air guide piece is missing from the parts diagram.
^If that piece is a mostly hard styrofoam piece like it is in the FC, then it's definitely missing. I don't see anything like that up there behind the bumper skin - probably can't tell from my crappy phone pictures.

Not styrofoam, but fiberglass. That's the "crash bar" of the front bumper.
Also, take a picture of your hood latch from the front of the car. I've seen some front mounts that cut out a cross bar that the bottom of the latch bolts to.

That's better than some relay relocations I've seen at least! Big thing is that it's designed to be mounted with the top up (duh). If sideways or upside-down it can get wet and water sticks around, rusting out the relays. Seen that on cars that sat with an engine out and the relay box was dangling by the wires.
That bracket for the IC isn't a stock bracket, that would have come with that IC kit. Do you know what IC is on the car? Looks like it has something stamped on it (B1 or something) - most Japanese IC kits have the brackets stamped to identify what goes where.
All that said, you definitely have no front bumper reinforcement. Also they didn't hack out the front cross brace which some IC's do which is awesome. Things that are missing can easily be replaced.

Well that's good... I picked up a used air guide, now I'm looking for that reinforcement piece. You might have also noticed the windshield washer tank & pump unit is missing too - at least the PO has that in his shop and promised to ship it to me.
Right now I'm racking up break-in miles on the new motor, and logging lots of data to refine the tune on the Link G4+ ECU - made lots of progress there, loving the Link ECU! Once I log 500 miles on the new short block, the motor is coming out for install of an oil pan brace, and I'll be installing a oil filter pedestal, adding oil pressure & oil temp sensors and better knock sensors for the Link and putting the stock OMP back in, with an RA OMP adapter kit & premix tank like my FC. While I'm in there, the R1 dual oil cooler setup will go in, and I'll deal with the bumper. Of course this also means I'll be doing a full rewire of the engine harness which didn't include provisions for an OMP, and pretty much everything else power distribution/engine wiring related to bring it up to my standards.

Nice! Sounds like you're making great progress!
Is the oil pan leaking currently? If so and you're doing a brace you may want to do a new oil pan too, many old pans are so bent they will never seal up right even with a brace.
Any idea what IC you have?

Pan isn't leaking yet, and the pan itself looks like it's fairly new and in decent shape - I'll know for sure when I pull it off. Once it's all cleaned up, I'll do the glass table top test with it, to verify the sealing surfaces are all flat & straight. Then I'll know if it's worth buying a new pan or not. The pan also has a block off plate where the oil level sensor is supposed to be.
I can't see any logos or marks identifying the FMIC, but the PO said it was an older Greddy part. It's a nice part, but I'll probably end up selling it as I don't think I'll be able to use it after I reconfigure to either a SMIC or V-mount layout so I can restore a working AC system.
