Help, intercooler question.
Hey, i currently have intake, down pipe, stock midepipe, but i also ave a cat back exhaust. I want to put on a fron mount will i have a chance of blowing my motor, is it not safe to run the HKS fron mount intercooler without upgraded ecu and fuel??? thanks...
That car still has the stock twins, on a fresh reman. I think you should be fine as long as you keep the boost at stock levels. Only difference the motor will see is cooler air.. and it should already be tuned for cool air anyways. Just make sure you keep the stock cat, and make sure your boost doesn't creep past 10psi.
Yep, I agree with trainwreck. It will all be ok with a stock ECU as long as you run 10 psi and stay away from a full exhaust. 11psi max. If it goes past that, install a boost controller.
OK cool, thanks guys, thanks Alvaro i was talkin to chandler and hes the one that said dont run the intercooler. But I think ill put it on and install my boost gauge. I still have tge stock catted midpipe so we will see. Alvaro so you have extra boost line for ym boost gauge?? hit me up on AIM.
Hey Randy, boost line? Like vac hose? I might have some nylon laying around.. but would have to find.. And well I'm not going to be around till this coming tuesday..
If not, just use some silicone tubing from auto parts store.
Also, the colder air intake temps front the front mount will cause the turbo to spool harder.. so make sure it doesn't go over 10psi.. you might have to adjust the boost pill to the waste gate (enlarge it).. or just take it out and run a boost controller.
