i'm not sure about this... but don't most of the aftermarket BOVs need to be mounted to a flange on the IC piping which needs to be welded on? being the case, wouldn't the old ones need blocked off? it sounds like your "friend" doesn't have a damn clue what he's doing and is about to ruin a perfectly good FD. punctuation would help quite a bit. i'm gonna make a prediction here, your friends car will die and the engine will pop in under 8 months.
there are TWO stock BOVs... have fun playing where's waldo. give ya a hint, they are directly between the turbos and the intake box
p.s. is it REALLY that hard to type out the entire word "thanks?"

The BOV will most likely come with instructions on what needs to be done (unless it was purchased used).
Make sure you have the Factory Service Manual regardless if the BOV came with instructions or not. If you don't have one yet, you can download it from this site:
http://www.iluvmyrx7.com/3rd_gen_manuals.htm
Once your friend actually has received the BOV, post back if you need help on the install.

ahh as much as i want him to learn his lesson, i cant imagine another fd going down..
listen partner, pop the hood of the fd yo, walk over to the passenger side by the front tire.. you see all those black hoses, both big and small? well bend over, move your eyes back and forth while paying close attention.. you will see 2 little brown looking things, one towards the firewall and one close to the air box, those are your stock bov's..
you might have to use your hands to play where's waldo lol

Since nobody knows exactly what kit/bov he bought, I would recommend waiting until he posts back before giving any specific instructions on what needs to be done.

Why not explainwhat is actually happening under the hood? Why send him off with false information and not understand what is what...
Maybe the fact that we tell him there are 2 valves that look identical but operate differently, would let him and his friend know that they need to do a little more research before they start throwing things on.
It is just common curtosy to help someone out instead of point out that they don't know where the BOV is. As you said he is new, so why not help inform him so they don't kill the engine and walk away from these cars with a bad taste in their mouth.I guess i am just tired of seeing all the "your a dumbass" type responses.
We could all learn a thing about help from Mahjik. He answers SOOOO many stupid questions with a link to a thread and some helpfull tid-bits of info. If we would all try that( myself included) this forum would be alot more productive...for everyone.
Speech over!!

BigIslandSevens, you're right... that was completely my bad about the BOV and CRV. but as it was said before, from the sounds of it he won't know the difference anyways. RX713B, sorry, but the way it was worded it really just sounds like you're ricing your car out and that aggrevates me quite a bit. i won't be doing this anymore... cause i know that i need a lot of help too. too many jackasses on here and i just became one of them.

No it's not Turbo'd
Return it and get a HKS SSQ Kit for the RX-7... without it, you're going to spend similar amount of money on:
1) Aluminium Piping, since all the stock parts are plastic or rubber.
2) Aluminium Flange, since you can't weld steel flanges to Aluminium.
3) Welding, cutting, and mounting this sucker.
When you buy a Kit, the old one comes off, and the new one goes in it's place... that simple...
Found one of my old pictures... it's the brown thing below the makita drill attached to the hoses...
But to the right of the yellow extension cord for the shop light... Has a Red-Ish label on it with some writing, most likely mazda manufactureing junk...

Bridgeport Anyone??
I got a question, IF I have the SSQV kit and i weld it on to my IC piping, what becomes of the old BOV? Just pull it off and plug it up? And the recirc pip that goes from the bov to the nipple on the y-pipe? Thanks
