help: idling high and coolant hoses + ast extremely hot

the other day my water pump pulley came apart .. i drove it home for maybe 3 miles
i just repaired it and got the belts on nicely

now im having problems with the car
it idles at about 2k rpms
the coolant lines are extremely hot
the ast is really hot as well .. like cant touch it for more than a few seconds hot
also when i step on the gas its really stiff
and i noticed the air pump is going crazy .. kicks in then turns off .. kicks in turns off

please forum gurus help me diagnose this problem

if you drove the car withought water pump for 3 miles and then kept runing it i think that means your engine is done.

never mind, im retarded, the high idle was caused by a rag that i left inside the elbow that kept the tb from closing properly
