Question exhaust system question

i recently purchased my 93 3rd gen and was completely stock untill i installed a blitz nurspec muffler, now my question is with leaving the stock mid pipe so i dont have to go through so many changes will installing a down pipe make a big difference in sound? and performance? and what would be the best down pipe to buy?

I'm no expert, but I was very happy after installing a down pipe and losing the pre-cat. I was told it is a good idea to get the Pre-Cat out of there because it is a big source of heat and can clog. The diffence in sound was subtle but noticeable (I still had the stock cat and cat back). It definately felt like my FD performed better as well. As far as which DP is better, I have no idea. I have a pettit dp FWIW.

I would recommend it. Keep your eyes on the boost gauge, but I didn't have any problems.

If you listen carefully you'll be able to hear the turbos spooling with the downpipe. You will also notice an improvement in performance but do it because the stock pre-cat can get clogged and cause excess heat build up.

I have the bonez dp.

The big name brands have downpipes that fit well. Meaning they don't result in holes that are too small to fit the cat bolts through and don't twist things around so that they bang into other body parts. Pettit and rx7.com are the best that I've seen.

There are lots of cheap ebay downpipes floating around that often have fitment problems which result in larger expense when it comes time to install and get fitting properly.
