HELP!!! idle problems and check engine light

I just replaced my turbos and all the vacuum lines in my 93 5-speed touring. I drove it a few miles when my ps belt tore. I replaced both belts: ps and alternator looser than before. I drove home about three miles when the car started bucking and idling roughly. The check engine light would come on and off. I started it the next day and it was running smoothly until the fans kicked on and then it happened all over again. Can someone please give me any help?!!!!!!

Sounds like a bad air intake thermosensor to me. Could be a million things actually, but that that device tends to fail quite a bit on our cars.

I tryed the self diagnosis trick but the check engine light only came on for a few seconds and then went off. It didn't blink, but when the car was running a few minutes before the light was on. Now it's flooded though so I'll have to wait till I can start it again.

you don't even have to start the car to check the codes. just jump ten and gnd in the self diagnosis box with a wire, paper clip, whatever. get in the car and turn the ignition on, but don't start it. the check engine light will flash. even if it only came on briefly while driving, the codes are stored and WILL flash when you check them. refer back to the earlier link.

The self diagnosis function will not work, no matter what I do it won't work. The light comes on for about two to three seconds and then goes out. There is no blinking at all. When the car was running it would runn fine, and then it would try to stall . At the same time as the stall the check engine light would come on. If light throttle was applied the stall would not occur and the light would go out until it tried to stall again.

I'm jumping the right connectors GND and TEN and I'm not starting it. I read from Steve Cirian's site that if no codes are stored the light will come on for a few seconds and then go off which is what mine is doing, but there is obviously something wrong. Is it possible that when my belt snapped it could have hit the crank angle sensor and thrown it out of alignment? To compound the problem, I can't get the car running long enough to warm up, so it keeps flooding. I'm actually considering taking to the only rx7 mechanic around here, and he happens to work at FORD!

I took it to the "Mazda Mastertech" telling him what had been done, and that I thought it was a loose connector somewhere. He spent a whole day on it and quoted me $4,400 on a new engine stating low compression. The numbers he gave me were in the 8's and the engine was flooded. I told them that they were full of it and towed the car home, after paying the $112 diagnostic fee with a credit card. Checked the car out yesterday, and found the connector going to the MAP sensor to be loose. Plugged it back in, and the car runs like a champ. Today I'm going to show the "Mastertech" how smoothly my blown engine runs and I'm cancelling their payment on the credit card. Visa it's everywhere you want to be. Thanks guys.
