HELP!! i think i popped my motor on new years day!

Ok,

i havent driven my car for a week because it was raining and it was sitting in the garage. now i start it up and i take it around the block and when im coming back to pull into the garage, someone was blocking the driveway. so it was idling for like 15 seconds until he came out and when i pressed the clutch in to put it in gear, i heard something from the motor. it sounded like if you were to drop a wrench on the floor. then the car died. the a/c was on so i though it just stalled. i started it and it would not start. then with the gas pressed in all the way, it started. but the funny thing was that its now getting any (i mean any) vaccume on the boost guage and when i pressed the gas there in neutral, i got like 4 lbs of boost.

the car felt like this once before when i just got it. the stock pre-cat was clogged up and thats what happened. it was chocking the motor. this is what it feels like now too.

i borrowed a compression tester from my firend and did a compression check and it has 97psi on the rear and the front i couldnt get a accurate reading on because the value stem got f*ed up. so if the motor were to blow, wouldnt the rear rotor blow first. thats what almost alway's happens.

btw, the motor is a streetported motor from Rotary Power in Garenda. it has less than 10k miles on it and less than a year old. also, one weird thing is that near where the coils are, its making this buzzing noise when the ignition it turned on the "on" position......

Any idea's??? i think its not the motor but something else. the front i couldnt get a accurate reading on but it was moving fast way over 75.....

Thanks!

your motor isn't blown. Look around under the hood.

map sensor vaccume line is ok. i checked. all the other vaccume lines seeem ok. i have check most of the ones that i can see. the other problem that i had before was that my turbo diaphram (stock wastegate on the twins) was not working well and i would overboost. i had rotary power change it for me with another used one. might that be the problem if it broke? that would explain 4 lbs of boost on idle with just a tap on the gas. i also checked the spark plugs. they were really fouled up. im going to buy new ones on monday. and i checked if it was getting any spark by holding near the strut bar. it gets plenty of spark.

how/what electrical would i check?? its going to a rotary shop on monday to get the compression checked out.

totally off topic, but I'm still amazed that you had the a/c on... (but then again, I'm from NJ, where the high was 40 degrees F.

no, the heater is on... actually, with the PFC, when you turn on the a/c to heat, it turns on your fans. i left it on the last time that i drove the car and forgot to turn it off.... my car stalls sometimes when the a/c compressor is on. thats what i meant

Check spark and fuel if you check compression already, also check gaskets on the intake manifolds if they are the paper ones.

the noise under the hood is arc from the coils to something metal. This means that your spark plug wire covers suck and some of the current is escaping. It sounds like you have a problem with the ignition to me or you are BSing. Nobody blows an engine while it's idling. It is possible that you blew it while you were driving and it didn't totally shut off until you let it try to idle for a while. However you would have noticed the vacuum acting strange on the way home or be a little lower at least.
what kind of computer do you have and how much boost were you running?

Exactly what Surge says, my car would be making the same sound you described from around the coils area. Checked it out, and one of the sparkplug wires on the rear leading plug, was just hanging onto the plug. The car would act all funny, with weird idle, but i dont know about your vaccum problem. Mine the vaccum would just fluctuate a little. Anyway I went ahead and changed the wires, and problem is gone. Check EVERYTHING!

ok, i drove it and i know for a fact that i didnt blow it. i have a pfc running on a base map. im only running 7 lbs of boost. i have turned it down until i get it tuned. now, as i said, it was idling and when i put it in gear to pull into the garage, i heard something tick. the it stalled. i didnt blow it when i was driving because i didnt even get on it. the streets were wet and i cant grip so there is no point. thats why i am surprised it happened.

also, when i turned it on, it smoked really bad but it wasnt coming out of the tailpipe, it was coming out of the bottom of the doors.... i have no idea. i took out my spark plugs and there is a lot of carbon buildup on them. they had like 2mm's of carbon stuck to them.

Don't you read the "good guy/bad guy" section. This guy doesn't send out anything as promised. I don't know why anyone buys anything from him.

Yeah, I've read it. I'm well aware.

It wasn't so much of anything I bought, but a trade. And what was traded wasn't equal. He said that he couldn't redo the swap beacuse his 7 is a dd. Then I see this. You can understand my frustration I think.

If you made a bad trade, that's your problem. If he doesn't send out his item in a timely manner, which he never seems to do, that creates another problem.

If someone has something for sale, it should be ready to package up and ship THE SAME DAY as payment is received. Unfortuately, RZ is completely irresponsible. He should be banned from selling on this forum ........... and anywhere else!
